Have you read The Making of a Manager by Julie Zhuo?
I found the advice to be really basic and was disappointed by it since there is so much positive feedback for it. I’m not a manager so maybe that’s also why I didn’t find it as helpful? The genre as a whole seems pretty awful.
I haven’t read but it sounds par for the course. What were you hoping to get out of it? like that was probably my biggest question for myself - what draws me to this genre?
She was promoted to manage her team and she had a blog about her work/managing design at Facebook. I was hoping for some good advice around managing teams that primarily programmed since at some point I hope to run a small team. I’m not currently a manager which goes to your point that non-managers are the readers of these books.
